Increasing Sounds in Sony Ericsson Cedar J108a/J108i

If you are using a Sony Ericsson Cedar J108a/J108i phone,you will notice that the volume of the sound produced by the phone is not enough to do your work…

By this guide I’m going to tell you how to increase speaker sound of Sony Ericsson J108a/J108iphone.

Just Follow this….

1^st of all you need these to be downloaded

• Far Manager
• Flash Driver Gordons Gate
• Sony Ericsson Cedar Acoustics

By changing the default acoustics of your phone you can increase the sound…But to do so you need the software “FAR MANAGER”.

Let’s Start…

Install far manager on your computer and run it.

Then press ALT+F1, a small screen appears and from it choose SEFP2. Then click on CONNECT button.

A massage will appear telling to switch off the phone and connect to USB cable holding C button.

Now switch off the phone and connect to USB cable holding C button.

Far Manager will recognize your device after few seconds

After far manager is connected to your phone a window will show you the system files of phone (left column) and the files on the computer(Right column)

 On your phone system files (left column) go to “ifs/settings/acoustics/” and on your computer files(Right column) go to the folder that the acoustic files you downloaded previously are available.

Now go to “ifs”folder in computer and right click on all of the files. (Files will be selected) then click on copy button on the bottom of far manager. It will  copy all the files to the phone (to “ifs/settings/acoustics/”folder).

After copying “ifs” files go back (by clicking (…) icon) to the main window and go to tpa/preset/acoustic.

Now go to tpa folder on your computer and right click on all of the files. (Files will be selected) then click on copy button on the bottom of far manager. It will copy all the files to the phone (to "tpa/preset/acoustic/" folder). (If ask for overwriting files click yes.)

Disconnect your phone from the computer and switch on it after few seconds.

Done!  Now you have modded your phone to have higher sounds…

Xperia Style For Sony Ericsson Cedar

Now you are going to mod your Sony Ericsson phone (Cedar,Hazel, Elm, Naite etc) to have Xperia Arc Style interface.
1^st of all you need these to be downloaded

• Far Manager
• Flash Driver Gordons Gate
• Xperia Arc Style Files

Far Manager is used to access the system files of your phone. So install Far Manager and run it.

Press ALT+F1, a small screen appears and from it chooseSEFP2. Then click on CONNECT button. A massage will appear asking you to switch off the phone and connect to USB cable holding C button.

Now switch off the phone and connect to USB cable holding C button.

After far manager is connected to your phone a window will show you the system files of phone (left column) and the files on the computer(Right column)

Now you have to do is copying new system files to you rphones system.  I have given you the link to download new system files. So download and extract the rar file to have the content. Browse the content in your computer using right column of far manager and copy paste them in necessary folders on phone system files.

How to copy files..

You can browse through the folders by double clicking them and to go back click on (..). To select a file right click over them so those files will be highlighted in yellow.You can select multiple files by right clicking several files. To copy files,after selecting files click on copy button below the far manager. If you are asked to overwrite files, click yes.

For example to copy icon graphic files, browse to the folder Icon Graphic using far manager(Right Column) and right click on the file inside the folder.  Now browse to TPA\PRESET\SYSTEM\ICONS in the phone files (Left Column). Click copy button below the far manager.Click OK if asked to overwrite.

Do the same to all the other files given below.

You can also use fonts you already have in your computer too. But almost all the fonts will not work better with the phone. So you have to find out a good font that satisfy to your requirements by changing the fonts several time using the above process.
And also if you don’t want to do something that I have done above, keep the original files of the phone without changing. For example if you think that you don’t want to mod the player, then don’t copy the new player files to phone.


After copying all the files, disconnect your phone from the computer and switch on it after few seconds.

Done!  Now you have modded your phone operating system and it looks like Xperia Arc interface…
